Following on from the 2015 launch of its hatchback K Series sibling, the spacious Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer is the estate car member of the family.
Like the Vauxhall Astra hatchback, the Sports Tourer is the seventh-generation of estates to wear the name, its lineage stretching back to 1980.
With one of the largest boots in its class and more room for passengers than its predecessor, the BRITISH BUILT- Sports Tourer has made quite an impression,
and UK sales have reflected this from launch.
Completely new from the ground up, Its modern styling and purposeful looks have made it one of the smartest looking Estates out there.
But the good news doesn't stop there...
Euro NCAP 5 Star Safety Rating, Airbags galore and a more rigid, high strength steel chassis that's actually lighter than its predecessor by 135 Kg.
As with the Hatchback the interior is equally accommodating for passengers: four six-foot tall adults will easily sit comfortably while the back seat accommodates three child seats – a rarity in a car that’s not a traditional MPV.
With all five seats in place the Sports Tourer offers 540 litres of boot space, a full 60 litres more that of its closest competitor, the Ford Focus Estate.
Fold the split rear seats – 60:40 and it’s a similar story: the Vauxhall’s 1,630-litre capacity beats the Ford Focus (1,495 litres) and VW Golf (1,620 litres).
The addition of Roof rails make it a doddle to fit additional load lugging storage up top, if needed.
The cabin is light and airy, thanks to larger windows and owners will appreciate a much needed, more quality feel to the fittings and fixtures.
Thanks to its new layout with Zoned control areas, the dash board and infotainment controls are easy to locate and intuitive to use, even for us technophobes!
